Nicholas Komodore is Greek poet from Athens currently living and working in Oakland, California. In 2011, Nicholas founded Mayakov+sky Platform, a collaborative framework on poetics, music, film and architecture.
Music compositions from the Platform have been published in Textsound issue 21, the Crisiology series and Artifactual Modulations. Films and architectural designs from Mayakov+sky Platform have been showcased in Madrid (The Windor Contemporaneo), Montreal (Centre for Expanded Poetics), San Francisco (San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR)), Athens (ROOMS 2012 Exhibit), and the 15th Venice Biennale of Architecture. In the fall of 2019, Mayakov+sky Platform was invited to perform as a free jazz quartet consisting of Sean Benjamin, Dusan Chae, Kevin CK Lo and Nicholas, at the conference Unit Structures: The Art of Cecil Taylor that was organized by The Graduate Center and the Hitchcock Institute for the Study of American Music at Brooklyn College, City University of New York.
Collaborations from the Platform have included legendary dancer/choreographer Anna Halprin, dance artist Margit Galanter, poets Kiki Dimoula, Eleni Stecopoulos, alex cruse, Lara Durback, Ektor Kaknavatos, Alberto Tinoco Duran and Brian Ang, visual artists Eliza Alexandropoulou and Christina Kamma, composer Bill Noertker and experimental projects B.R.A.C., Inverz and Raspberry Fields. In the spring of 2020, Mayakov+sky Platform made the film OVID-20 with Japanese poet Kohei Masuda, commissioned by Small Press Traffic, as part of a collection of cinepoetry about the COVID-19 crisis.
