FREAK SCENE

brother uses glue

juicy like citrus

dizzy like jazz

a lack of buzz

eyes individual

shelves too high

to climb I make

a list of things

I need to get

past like curses

curdled and

complicit in

fear of saying

stupid things

I stutter step

on my mark

goes for glow

midsize model

monsters like Frankenstein’s creation yes I am too sensitive to light

at night The Late Late Show features baroque grotesques I count

Dracula for one Mr. Hyde as two I think I’m three days shy of

seven the first time I see the Creature from the Black Lagoon

like brittle film stock

sound tracks the way

I feel burned by being

on the outside looking

in takes solace when I

see a music-fest freak-

scene in Chicago every

July goes by the name

Pitchfork not Prufrock
